Chichiri Cultural Troupe was formed established on 16th October 2006 at Chichiri Museum Ground in Blantyre. The troupe is registered member group under the Malawi Folkdance, Music and song society (MFODMASS) Southern Region Chapter. The group is registered with provision of the business Names Registrations act (CAP.46:02). As a group, Chichiri Cultural Troupe has twenty three members and a board of three trustees. The members have vast experiences in folk arts productions in entertainment, advertisement, awareness campaign and civic education amongst others. These are highlighted in the objectives of Chichiri Cultural Troupe.
OBJECTIVES
1.Promote, develop and encourage Malawians to preserve cultural heritage in Folk arts.
2.Create awareness campaign in fighting against the HIV and AIDS and other sexual transmitted diseases.
3.Combat poverty and boosting tourism in Malawi.
4.Encourage and promote self help spirit and hardworking among Malawians through folk arts.
EXPERIENCES AND ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT(A) AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
Chichiri Cultural Troupe has conducted awareness campaign on HIV and AIDS with the following institutions: Malawi council for the handicapped (MACOHA), Balaka district health centre, DairiBord Malawi, Standard Bank, National Bank, Blantyre city Assembly, Unilever Malawi South East Africa, Malawi Post Corporation (MPC), Total Malawi Ltd, Site Savor and Within Africa International Television (featured on its channel 53).(B) CIVIC EDUCATION
Chichiri Cultural Troupe has also conducted civic education on (Child abuse, Gender violence and Drug abuse) with the following institutions: National Bank, BPP company, Thyolo District Health Centre (Medicines), Museums of Malawi, Ntonya International Private School, Central High School, Blantyre Baptist Church, ST. Michael and All Angels, Save our Souls (SOS), ST. Pius Catholic Church.(C) PROMOTIONS
The troupe has also helped the following institutions through adverts. Zain Malawi Ltd, Telecom Network Malawi, Football Association of Malawi (FAM), Malawi Telecommunications (MTL) Limited, Multimedia, DairiBord Malawi Limited, Top Advertisements Division (ADD) and Malawi Post Corporations (MPC).(D) FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES

In our department of instruments we have the following traditional instruments: Voice, Footsteps, Costume, Drums, Clapping, Brilliant (ululation), Bacha, Manjerenjeza, Mkangala, Maseche, Mask, Badza, Silamba, four glass bottles and Riding pipe (one and half).
